 GO! assignments enable individuals, young adults, adults, congregations, and others to train and serve in short-term cross-cultural missions.
Assignments last from two weeks up to one year and range from congregational ministry and service teams, to pioneer exploratory teams, to individual "test the call" assignments. Other possible teams include prayer teams, "encourage the worker" teams, and rapid-response teams to meet urgent needs. EMM sends up to five GO! teams per year.
EMM designs and fully coordinates these assignments for those age 18 or older who want to join with other adults in cross-cultural ministry, or who desire individual assignments. Training is required for all assignments: two days of training for trips of three weeks or less; more for the longer teams. Debriefing occurs upon return.
GO! Assignments
Home School Teachers
Length: 10 months
Serve EMM long-term workers by helping to home school their children and get engaged in the local community. Locations include: China, Central Asia, and Europe.
Canada
Length: 2 weeks to 6 months
Reach out to the French-speaking parts of Ottawa and Gatineau in a new church-planting initiative.
China
Length: 4 – 6 months
Teach conversational English to education majors in Chinese teachers’ colleges and build relationships with students. (Bachelor’s degree required.)
Czech Republic
Length: 3 weeks, from end of June to mid-July
10 people (high school seniors, college students or young adults) needed to work at a summer camp an hour outside of Prague. Activities include: leading a small group; teaching some English (practice conversational English by talking about subjects of interest in English); leading a discussion group on the spiritual theme for the week; participating in games, sports, hiking; and being prepared to share your testimony during the week. Also prefer several musicians to lead songs. An opportunity exists for church/small groups to do this together.
Nairobi, Kenya
Length: 6 months to 1 year
Person needed with knowledge of basketball, volleyball, soccer, gym, and aerobics to work at the Eastleigh Fellowship Centre and will also teach Bible classes and lead outreach teams.
Serve in the U.S.
Length: 1 to 12 months
There are opportunities to serve in Atlanta, Louisiana, and Alabama as well as in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. A summer intern is needed to work at Immanuel Community Church in Queens, New York City.
Central Asia
Length: 6 months to 1 year
Teach English and computer skills, or work in community health, business leadership, or agricultural development in one of the poorest Central Asian Republics.
