 GO! assignments enable individuals, young adults, adults, congregations, and others to train and serve in short-term cross-cultural missions. Assignments last from two weeks up to one year and range from congregational ministry and service teams, to pioneer exploratory teams, to individual "test the call" assignments. Other possible teams include prayer teams, "encourage the worker" teams, and rapid-response teams to meet urgent needs. EMM sends up to five GO! teams per year.
EMM designs and fully coordinates these assignments for those age 18 or older who want to join with other adults in cross-cultural ministry, or who desire individual assignments. Training is required for all assignments: two days of training for trips of three weeks or less; more for the longer teams. Debriefing occurs upon return.
GO! Assignments
Asia
Length: 5-12 months
Help with childcare for long-term workers while engaging in local service opportunities.
Himalayas
Length: 10-14 days, winter 2011
Partner with church group in prayer, discipleship training, and trekking to intercede for openness to the gospel.
Nairobi, Kenya
Length: 1 year preferred
Reach out to a Muslim community through sports ministry, Bible classes, and community outreach teams.
New York City (Queens)
Length: 4-11 months
Serve as an intern working with After-School and English as a Second Language programs in a diverse neighborhood.
Peru
Length: 6 months
Youth workers needed to work in rural villages high in the Andes Mountains. Must be willing to be in an extremely rural location with no electricity.
Puerto Rico
Length: 10 days, winter 2011
Join a prayer team to minister to those at the International House of Prayer in Aibonito, and local missionaries serving with Koinonia Fellowship of Churches. This team’s goal is to connect with, encourage, and speak vision into these existing ministries.
Southeast Asia
Length: variable, summer 2011
Work with a water filter factory as business for transformation. Skills needed: working with kilns/ceramics, small machine maintenance, and accounting.
Thailand
Length: 6 months
Teach in a Bible seminary in southern Thailand.
Possible other GO! assignments include positions teaching English, working with children, engaging in business for transformation, and working in agricultural development.
