Evangelism
1010 People of God study course (Kenya)
This mail correspondence course of four books provides a biblical witness to Muslims through a study of the books of Moses, the prophets, the life of Jesus, and the life of the Church and invites the reader to accept the gift of salvation offered through Iso Masih (Jesus the Messiah).
A – $8 prints one set of the books.
B – $80 prints ten sets.
C – $800 prints 100 sets.

1020 Bicycles for evangelism for African church leaders
In rural Africa, bicycles are a primary source of transportation. They are economical to purchase and operate, and easy to maintain. Bicycles also allow pastors and evangelists to visit church members and communities with greater speed and ease than on foot. Churches provide “seed” money towards a bicycle and maintenance accessories.
A – $100 for one bicycle.
B – $1,000 for ten bicycles.


1030 African nationals missionary support
African churches established through the work of EMM send missionaries to share the good news of Jesus across cultures and subcultures in their own and neighboring countries. Financial support assists a missionary with housing, medical expenses, clothes, and especially shoes, as most travel is by foot.
A – $20 one worker for a week.
B – $240 one worker for a year.
C – $2,400 for ten missionaries for one year.

1040 Eastleigh Fellowship Centre (Kenya)
Located in a semi-slum area of Nairobi, the Centre provides holistic witness through a library, reading room, and sports teams and gym facilities. The basketball program is a major attraction for the community youth. The center also rents out space for English and computer classes, and for two congregations to worship. Discipleship classes are held twice each year to encourage, train, and hold accountable those who have accepted Christ.
A – $25 per student taking the discipleship class.
B – $50 for a basketball uniform for one player.
C – $250 hosts one basketball tournament.

1050 Audio equipment for evangelization (Guinea-Bissau)
The Christian youth association has a vision for evangelization within the district that includes outreaches in area villages. To assist with this effort, they request sound equipment that includes a small generator, amplifier, cassette player, and speaker system.
$1,000 covers sound equipment that includes a small generator, amplifier, cassette player, and speaker system. Any amount is appreciated.

2010 Ministry center
(Hong Kong)
Hong Kong Mennonites have launched a ministry center with outreach focused on local families in one of the least churched districts of Hong Kong, including alternate week Sunday worship. EMM continues involvement with encouraging relationship and a financial grant.
$250 covers EMM’s startup grant for one week.

2030 Church planting ministry in remote areas (Indonesia)
Close to half of Indonesia’s 200 million population has yet to hear Jesus’ good news of reconciliation and transformation. PIPKA, a long-standing EMM mission partner in Indonesia, is dedicated to planting churches among the least reached of Indonesia. EMM stands with them in taking steps into this vision; you can fulfill this financial commitment by providing:
A – $20 per day.
B – $115 per week.
C – $500 per month.

2040 Cross-cultural mission partnership with Amor Viviente (East Asia)
Amor Viviente (from Honduras) has launched cross-cultural missions in Asia with EMM in a partnering role. In 2009 the team continues in preparation and research for its long-term engagement while continuing to study language. Your gift encourages Amor Viviente as mission-senders and strengthens our partnership in reaching out to the millions in Asia who have not yet heard the good news of Jesus.
A – $100 covers one week of language study.
B – $1,000 covers exploration and research trips for long-term engagement.

2070 Training church leaders to work among Buddhists
Support evangelists from a fellowship of churches in the Himalayas to plant churches among another people group and to be sending church planters to other regions.
A – A grant of $50 will support an evangelist for a month.
B – A grant of $600 will support an evangelist for a year.

2120 Evangelistic team for northern India
A team is preparing for ministry in northern India. They will have initial start-up costs as they explore opportunities for involvement in the community where they plan to live.
A – $25 covers initial training expenses for one week.
B – $90 covers initial training expenses for one month.

2180 Cross-cultural mission partnership with Binay Missions Association (South Asia)
EMM is working with a new missions association group in South Asia who have caught a vision for cross-cultural missions in areas outside their country. EMM sponsors a missions conference and works with helping this group send workers into new areas. Your gift encourages BMA as mission-senders and strengthens our partnership in reaching out to the millions in this region who have not yet heard the good news of Jesus.
A – $100 helps cover expenses for workers to be sent.
B – $1,000 helps cover a missions conference.


2190 Mission training (Asia)
EMM is partnering with Back to Jerusalem mission leaders to provide training for workers preparing to be sent to “not yet” reached regions of the world. A major training is planned for 2010.
A – $100 will sponsor one student for two weeks of training.
B – $5,000 will allow 50 students to attend the training.
C – $1,000 supplies facility rent.
D – $1,000 provides training materials

Church development
1100 Roofs for churches in Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, and The Gambia) This project is a priority!
African churches are built with clay bricks or stones. Though the raw materials for the walls are readily available, the roof is expensive because it must be purchased. EMM provides funds to assist local congregations in the purchase of roof materials.
A – $10 provides one metal roofing sheet.
B – $100 provides ten metal roofing sheets.
C – A modest church roof costs about $2,500.


1110 Training for Kenyan leaders
Leaders of the Kenya Mennonite and Olepolos Mennonite Churches are bi-vocational. They receive different training levels from overnight seminars to Bible school. Help train these leaders to promote healthy churches and sustained growth. Costs per trainee:
A – $24 for transportation and food costs.
B – $60 for tuition, part of travel, and one night’s lodging.
C – $900 for tuition, travel, and a modest stipend for one year’s training.


1120 Kenya Mennonite Church history book
Kenyan Mennonites are determined to write the accounts of the movement of God’s Spirit in forming the Kenya Mennonite Church, so that following generations will be encouraged in their faith. A team of volunteer writers and editors has formed to write a 200-page book; the following amounts cover the remaining costs:
A – $6 prints three books.
B – $60 prints thirty books.
C – $600 prints three hundred books.
D – $6,000 covers the entire cost of publication.

1130 Leadership training events (The Gambia, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau)
Village fellowships are multiplying rapidly in these countries, but most people have little knowledge of the Bible or Christian faith in general. The EMM team needs to train leaders so that each of the fellowships can eventually provide their own pastoral leadership.
$300 provides logistical support for a two-day leadership training event; any amount is appreciated.

1140 Bibles (The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau)
In newly-developed fellowships in The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau, few own Bibles. With our literacy program underway, adults and youth have a strong desire to read the Bible for the very first time. Most people cannot afford to purchase a Bible.
A – $6 provides one Bible.
B – $60 provides ten Bibles.
C – $600 provides one hundred Bibles.


1150 Bible teaching and leadership development (Guinea-Bissau)
Community leaders have a great desire to hear Bible teaching and to experience spiritual formation so they can teach others.
A – $6 buys one Bible.
B – $75 buys a pastor's Bible study set.
C – $800 buys a DVD projector.

1160 Mission vehicle travel (The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Senegal)
A newly-purchased vehicle will enable missionaries to maintain regular contact with the emerging village fellowships in these three countries. Ongoing travel costs remain.
A – $10 pays for one day of travel.
B – $70 pays for one week of travel.
C – $312 pays for one month of travel.
D – $3,750 pays for the whole year of travel.

2010 Ministry center (Hong Kong)

2020 Domestic worker ministry (Hong Kong)
Filipino and Indonesian domestic contract workers in Hong Kong are responding to Jesus’ transforming message through the ministry efforts of workers sent by PIPKA (Indonesia) and Integrated Mennonite Churches of the Philippines. Together they are forming a multi-cultural church. EMM is a partner in this church and domestic worker ministry.
$50 supports this ministry and the two missionaries for one day.

2050 Church financial support (Thailand)
The Life Enrichment Churches have matured so that Thais have primary leadership. EMM matches the Thai church offerings on a reducing scale in order to encourage them to grow toward financial sustainability. In 2010, these rice farmers are assuming responsibility for 65% of their budget!
A – $60 covers one week.
B – $240 covers one month.
C – $2,860 covers one year.


2080 Vietnam Mennonite Church pastoral training

Part of the Mennonite church in Vietnam has recently received legal registration from the government. This opens pastoral training opportunities that have not existed for three decades. EMM and others are coordinating Anabaptist pastoral training models to equip this “lost” generation of church leaders. The church is growing rapidly, with now more than 6,000 members.
A – $60 will provide for one student to complete a one-week training module.
B – $300 will provide for 5 students to complete a one-week training module.
C – $600 will provide for ten students to complete a one-week training module.

2130 Leadership training (Indonesia)
Leadership training is a priority of the GITJ Synod (Evangelical Churches of Java), an Anabaptist church group. EMM is developing a stronger relationship with GITJ.
$2,500 assists GITJ in leadership training.

2140 Leadership training (Philippines)

The Integrated Mennonite Church of the Philippines is transitioning to a different leadership model. A matching grant will provide training, coaching, and transportation to seminars and conferences.
A – $50 towards a week of seminars and conferences.
B – $250 towards a month of seminars and conferences.
C – $3,000 towards a year of seminars and conferences.

2200 Leadership training (India)
Leadership training is a priority of the Kristalaya Mercy Mission (KMM) in West Bengal, India, working especially among Bengalis. EMM is developing a stronger relationship with KMM.
$2,500 assists KMM in leadership training.

2210 Leadership Training Materials
Workers in Central Asia would like to translate and publish a significant leadership training book. The cost for the translation and publication for 3,000 is approximately $7,000.
A - $24 covers the cost of 10 books.
B - $240 covers the cost of 100 books.
C - $600  covers the cost of 250 books.
D - $2,400 covers the cost of 1,000 books.

3030 Leadership training tuition (Lithuania)
For many years, local leadership training options in Lithuania were few. Now the Evangelical Biblical Institute (EBI) in Siauliai offers an intensive weekend of training once a month. This program makes training much more accessible by allowing students to continue their occupations. Costs per student:
A – $25 one month’s tuition.
B – $100 one semester of tuition.
C – $200 one year of tuition.

3040 Family outreach weekend retreat (Albania)

Almost no complete families attend church in Albania. Most of the members of the churches are young people. Our vision is to invite the parents of these young people and children to attend a weekend retreat where we introduce the gospel and provide good food and fellowship where whole families can truly interact at a new level with their families and with others who have an interest in spiritual things.
A – $35 for one person.
B – $70 for two people.
C – $175 for five people.
D – $2,500 for all of the families.


4050 Training for Sunday school teachers (Guatemala)
Many of the churches in Guatemala are growing rapidly, and are not able to provide Sunday school for their children because they lack qualified teachers. Help send prospective teachers to training classes.
A – $15 sends one teacher to training.
B – $150, ten teachers.
C – $300, 20 teachers.

4060 Peru church land purchase
The Peru church has been growing at the rate of one new church per month the past two years. A Presbyterian Church has agreed to sell land to the Mennonite Church at reduced rate. Money is needed to purchase and build leadership for these training and church headquarters buildings.
$200,000 needed for land and buildings; any amount appreciated.

5010 Training for African domestic workers in the Middle East

EMM is helping to provide support for a Canadian East African pastor who is networking with and resourcing African domestic workers in the Middle East and North Africa. Training seminars are being planned for the domestic workers before they leave for the Middle East.
A – $10 will provide training materials for one domestic worker.
B – $100 will provide a training scholarship for one domestic worker.
C – $3,500 will fund an entire seminar.

5030 New Ministries Location Exploration in the Middle East or Central Asia
There is much need for new centers of ministry in this region where the church is
not …. yet.
$1,000 allows Area Representatives to explore the possibility of ministry in a new country in the Middle East/Central Asia.

5060 Family Life Weekend Seminar in the Middle East
Teaching on godly family life helps to build an emerging first generation church for believers from Muslim backgrounds.
A - $100 covers seminar expenses to allow one family to attend.
B - $150 covers the cost of a sound system.
C - $500 covers translation of needed materials into the local language.


6010 Scholarships for School for Apostles
Imagine your church leader, pastor, bishop, or church planter in an intensive time of training that will resource him or her into developing a revitalized ministry. Imagine yourself being part of re-energizing and encouraging a leader. You can do just that by helping to send a church leader, pastor, bishop, or church planter and his or her family to a week of educational, resourceful, and intentional training. This event also ministers to children and youth.
A – $147 pays for one child (ages 5-12).
B – $289 pays for one adult (13+).
C – $618 pays for a couple.

 
Community development

Our goal is to provide a rotating fund for these gardens run by women, in which they would pay back the fund to our Small Farm Resource Center so it is available for the next women’s group. Many community gardens can therefore benefit from the project.
A – $8 one vegetable garden.
B – $80 ten vegetable gardens.
C – $800 one hundred vegetable gardens.

1190 Gambian workers (The Gambia)
Seventeen local workers provide needed labor for various jobs at the Mennonite Educational & Horticultural Development Associates (MEHDA) center. Contributions will help in offsetting the costs of salaries so that budget money from EMM can go towards community needs and church development.
A – $12 pays for one person’s salary for one week.
B – $48 pays for one person’s salary for one month.
C – $576 pays for one person’s salary for a year.
D – $4,920 pays salaries for all workers for six months.

1200 Food security through community gardens (Guinea-Bissau)
Food in this country is insufficient and lacks nutritional balance. Community gardens are the best way to help alleviate this need.
A – $100 buys one-tenth of the fencing for a two-acre garden.
B – $1,000 buys fencing for a two-acre garden.
C – $1,500 buys a concrete-lined well.

2060 Staff for family ministry center (Macau)
A new church plant is growing in Macau, reaching out through a family ministry center with many children’s programs. EMM is a partner in a consortium of Anabaptist agencies with a focus on this gambling and leisure enclave in southern China.
A – $230 provides support for one week.
B – $1,000 provides support for one month.
C – $12,000 provides support for one year.

2090 Typhoon relief for Vietnam
Because of Vietnam’s long Pacific Ocean coastline, villages and towns are frequently devastated by typhoons. This destruction regularly includes church members’ livelihood and property.
$1,000 provides a quick response by the church into typhoon- or flood-ravaged areas.
 
Education
1070 Bible College scholarship (Tanzania, Kenya)
The Tanzania and Kenyan Mennonite Churches administer the Mennonite Theological College of East Africa in Tanzania. Tuition assistance allows students with few financial resources to attend. Costs are per student.
A – $15 per week.
B – $55 per month.
C – $660 per year.

1080 School scholarships for needy children (The Gambia)

Often children who have shown promise in education have had to quit school due to the loss of one or both of the parents. Donations would help to provide school fees for children whose mother or father has died. Contact Christa Mylin if you want more information.

1090 Meserete Kristos College scholarship (Ethiopia)
The College is training persons for ministry. Costs are for tuition, room, and board for those in a three-year Church Ministries BA program.
A – $20 for one person for one week.
B – $80 for one person for one month.
C – $1,000 for one person for one year.
D – $3,000 pays for a full three-year program for one person.

1180 Community library (The Gambia)
Although English and reading are taught in the government schools in The Gambia, there are very few books available. If you are willing to donate books, see the list below, or you can help us purchase them. Contact Christa Mylin for more information.

1210 Elementary school building (Catel, Guinea-Bissau) Learn more
At least 300 children in Catel could attend elementary school, but many do not and illiteracy is rampant. Currently there are two classrooms, but one is made of palm fronds and needs to be rebuilt each year after the rainy season, and the other building is incomplete. Providing a durable, permanent school building will be the first step in addressing the educational needs of the village and combating poverty.
A – $10 will provide one sack of cement for the floor.
B – $50 will go towards providing windows and doors.
C –
$100 will go towards providing a corrugated metal roof (total cost $4,000).

2150 Education in Cambodia
EMM workers are focusing on improving and supplementing the educational opportunities for village children. Your contributions can enable local Christian staff persons to visit homes and encourage parents to send their children to school and to also work directly with local school officials to find ways to upgrade the schools. In a related project, staff provide supplemental character-building and academic instruction two afternoons a week to 40 especially needy students.
A – $150 will provide children’s education for one week.
B – $660 will provide children’s education for one month.
C – $8,000 will provide children’s education for a year.

3020 Christian university student assistance (Lithuania)
LCC International University (formerly Lithuania Christian College) is an international liberal arts university that educates young people from Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, and other developing countries. You can help students finance their education. Costs per student:
A – $40 visa renewal fee for a year.
B – $120 health insurance for one year.
C – $550 dormitory costs for one semester.
D – $2,535 one semester of tuition.

4040 Mennonite school education (Peru)
The new Mennonite school PROMESA continues to add a grade per year. Assistance with costs is needed.
A - $35 per student per month.
B - $375 per student per year.
C - $2,400 per teacher per year.
D - $7000 covers growth for 2009.

1060 Football for peace (The Gambia)
A soccer program is planned to draw the attention of youth away from serving as rebel soldiers.
A – $35 purchases one soccer ball.
B – $350 purchases 10 soccer balls.

3010 Bible Camp for children and youth (Albania)
In Albania, most children and youth do not live in Christian homes. Summer camps are an effective way to get them into an environment where they have the opportunity to hear regular teaching from the Bible.
A – $63 per child for one week.
B – $150 per child for three weeks.
C – $630 for 10 children for one week.

4030 Children’s and leadership retreats (Chile)

The EMM church planting team, along with the small Chilean church, has a vision to buy and develop a ten-acre tract of land.
$40,000 pays for initial land and development; any amount is appreciated.
