Thirty-one young adults commissioned for mission and service
Written by Jewel Showalter
“You smell!” Sam Dick told the 31 young adults and their supporters who packed out the Mount Joy Mennonite Church, Sunday evening, September 13, for Eastern Mennonite Missions’ short-term commissioning service.

Dick, a mobilization coordinator for Mennonite Brethren Mission and Service International,  identified well with the group as he spoke from II Cor. 2:14-17.

“I’m with you, and I know you’re not here because ‘everyone’s doing it,’” he said. “As you get involved in people’s lives, you’ll smell better. You are the fragrance of Christ. But you also carry the scent of death. Think of the smell you’re emitting – among those who know Christ and those who don’t. You have a key role in each setting!”

Twenty-five young adults who will serve on YES teams were commissioned for ministry in Albania, China, Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia, and Venezuela. Mission interns and GO! participants will serve in The Gambia, Honduras, Central Asia, and Harrisburg.
