Every EMM worker’s primary focus is to make disciples of Jesus. Help conduct summer English camps. Must have experience working with high-school-aged youth. Application deadline is March 1 each year.

Responsibilities

Teach English in a summer camp setting. Build relationships with high school students.

All long-term and short-term workers engage in Launch, EMM’s discipleship training course, before and during their assignments. Phase one of Launch includes personal discipleship activities through online modules. For phase two of Launch, participants spend one to two weeks at the end of June learning alongside their Launch cohort (a group of others preparing for service) before heading to their outreach locations. In phase three of Launch, workers continue to connect online with their Launch cohort for up to a year as they navigate ministry in their country of service.

Environment
The Czech Republic is a relatively stable country with a wide variety of products and modern conveniences comparable to those of many Western countries. There is a strong culture of independence, and education is highly valued. Czech people can be very skeptical of outsiders and reluctant to establish new relationships, but once friendships have been made, Czechs are very loyal. The religious environment is strongly atheist — a residual effect of the former Communist system — with a minority of Catholics and even fewer evangelicals.

Supervisors and colleagues
The summer youth worker will be a member of the EMM team supervised by Regional Representative Stacy Prknová. On a daily basis, the worker will serve alongside Czech individuals or couples who are facilitating the English camp.

Skills and experience
Applicants must have a high school diploma and have completed at least one year of college. Some experience working with high-school-aged youth is required. Flexibility, a friendly personality, and interest in working with teenagers are important qualities.
