Chile | Church developer
Every EMM worker’s primary focus is to make disciples of Jesus. Participate in an existing house/simple church network in Chile by working alongside business people and their families. Engage in ongoing proactive discipleship of national leaders. Possible part time work/business in the community.
Responsibilities
In Chile, this person will serve alongside business people and their families who are a part of an existing simple church network. Look for options in part-time work/business to further complement these relationships.
All long-term and short-term missionaries engage in Launch, EMM’s discipleship training course, before and during their assignments. Phase one of Launch includes personal discipleship activities through online modules. For phase two of Launch, participants spend two weeks at the end of June learning alongside their Launch cohort (a group of others preparing for service) before heading to their outreach locations. In phase three of Launch, workers continue to connect online with their Launch cohort for up to a year as they navigate ministry in their country of service.
Environment
Chile is a relatively stable country with a large spectrum of climates and cultures. Regions in southern Chile are exceptionally beautiful, but isolated and challenging with excessive rainfall. Northern Chile deals with extreme heat. Many regions are open to foreign missionary presence, but carry heavy spiritual oppression. Though there is an overall lack of biblical knowledge, there is an openness to the gospel.
Supervisors and colleagues
This person will work with like-minded colleagues, both expats and locals, as well as existing simple church members and leaders. They will be supervised by Regional Representatives Mike and Nancy Hostetter, along with simple church leadership.
Skills and experience
Some simple or house church experience is desired, as are career experience and the ability to work with families. Applicants must have intermediate proficiency in Spanish.
