Would your youth group [middle or high school] like to partner with EMM to spend one week in the summer growing as kingdom people doing kingdom work?
You don’t have to fly halfway around the world…join us!
“The young staff worked well together and were a good example to our youth. I loved the many different service projects. No two days were the same. As a youth leader, I appreciated not having to plan and prepare food.” — Strasburg Mennonite youth leader
“This experience was successful at encouraging and educating youth about missions by presenting information in an engaging way and exposing youth to many different cultures, people groups, and languages through service.”
— Calvary Monument youth
experience times of being & becoming…
Each day starts grounded in the word of God through small group Bible study and worship. K-Team participants will learn and grow together as a youth group and individually in their journey with Christ as they join in interactive and engaging discipleship sessions using a study called The Unfinished Story for Youth which imparts a Biblical emphasis for missions through history and into our present day.
intertwined with times of doing & serving…
Lancaster K-teams will serve refugee & immigrant populations by partnering with the Pennsylvania Migrant Education Program (PA-MEP). This is a federally funded program that supplements educational support services for migratory children. PA-MEP’s summer school aids English language learners and other migratory children who have had a delayed start or interruption in their education by giving them an additional opportunity for academic instruction and enrichment activities. This program runs from 9:00am-2:30pm Monday – Thursday for five weeks during the summer and is for children from Preschool through senior high school.
K-team youth will join PA-MEP students for lunch, then lead them in enrichment activities for the afternoon. This partnership helps students practice their English skills, learn the culture, and gain confidence in relating to others. EMM, in partnership with PA-MEP staff, will plan some of the daily activities each week and will ask the youth group to plan the other activities. Enrichment activities may include STEAM projects, team building activities, arts & crafts, sports & group games, relationship building through English conversation, and other activities that build community and evidence the love of Christ.
Other activities throughout the week may include prayer walks, cultural learning experiences, team-building experiences, or service projects.

FAQ
The cost is $375 per participant (youth and leaders). Upon registration there is a $375 non-refundable deposit, this is counted towards the total cost. This cost covers room and board for the week, a T-shirt, supplies, and helps to offset administrative costs for the program.
We can best accommodate up to a total of 30 people. We ask for 1 adult leader to accompany your group for every 6 youth. If your group has 10-15 participants, we may join your group with another group.
In order to save your week you must first complete the Google Form application (applications are processed on a “first come, first-served” basis) and submit the $375 non-refundable deposit within 14 days after receiving your confirmation email. This deposit secures your dates and commits your group to that slot. If we don’t receive your deposit within 14 days of your group’s confirmation letter, we will reopen that slot to other waiting groups. You will be notified when we receive your deposit so that you know your week is reserved.
Generally, the experience begins Monday morning and wraps up Friday afternoon. Exact start and end times vary a bit depending on the location. There can be some flexibility based on your group’s needs so let us know what could work well for you.
No, we don’t have a firm deadline. Our weeks often fill up quickly (the winter before). We’ll update our website as weeks are filled. We do ask that we receive a finalized group roster and all necessary paperwork by the beginning of May to help us adequately plan and prepare for the summer.
K-Teams are primarily for middle school or high school youth groups. It’s best for middle school youth to have at least completed 6th grade. Part of the work they’ll be doing involves leading activities for children and youth from preschool to high school age so having some older youth who are confident and able to step up and lead their peers helps.
We will take care of the bulk of the logistics and preparatory planning for the week. We just ask two simple things of you; provide adequate transportation for your group (this includes arriving to and departing from our host site at the start and end of the week as well as throughout the week from our home base to outreach and other assorted activities) and prepare some activities and supplies for the kids you will be working with during outreach. We’ll send you more information along the way and coach you through the process.
K-teams are typically a group experience, however, if this is something you are interested in please contact us. We will work with you to make this happen.
