Video Editor with Christian-Muslim Relations Team

Description:

Every EMM worker’s primary focus is to make disciples of Jesus. This internship will support the Christian-Muslim Relations Team (CMRT) in its mission of equipping Christians for their interactions with Muslims. The CMRT seeks a video editor to create storytelling resources.

The successful candidate will be a student or professional 18 years or older, with some experience in video editing, filmmaking, and video production (will be asked to present samples of their work). Basic video editing will be required. We are looking for someone passionate about visual storytelling!

Background:  The first gathering of Peacemaking Confessing Christ International (PCCI) partners and interviews conducted in Ethiopia in 2019 led to the creation of the PCCI website (https://pcci.team/). The PCCI Kenya 2024 gathering offered an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of PCCI ministry partners.

Responsibilities:

Participate in the life of the CMRT in making disciples of Jesus, while serving:

  1. Produce five videos from video archive of footage
  2. Edit videos for use on PCCI website and other CMRT needs.
  3. Complete additional tasks related to still images

Potential Learning Opportunities:

  • Develop skills in dialogue, witness, peacemaking, and hospitality
  • Grow in the development of life-giving relationships with Muslims and bearing witness to Jesus Christ.
  • Come alongside CMRT team members in their ministry preparations and take advantage of opportunities to observe and apply principles for engaging Muslims in life-giving ways and witness-bearing ways.

Environment:

Lancaster, Pa. — where CMRT is based — is a semi-rural tourism- and agriculture-based county with a small, thriving city. Over the past decade, Lancaster has become a destination for refugees from many nations; this has significantly altered the demographics of the area. Members of the CMRT are all connected with the Mennonite church, but also relate to multiple mission, academic, and ecumenical circles.

This internship can be completed remotely from anywhere, or in Lancaster, PA.

Supervisors and colleagues:

The mission intern will work with EMM’s Christian-Muslim Relations Team, which is led by Jonathan Bornman. A mentor will be assigned to provide oversight and accountability to the intern.

Skills and experience:

Experience with video editing, communications, and videography is required. Applicants should enjoy working behind the scenes, in detailed and technical tasks. Sensitive and secure communication about CMRT work is essential due to the nature of the work.

Length of Service:

2 months (Fall 2024 or Winter/Spring 2025)

Training:

Interns will engage in one week of Launch discipleship mission training. Along with Launch, interns will participate in at least three self-study modules and will be assigned an internship mentor. Interns will have an orientation to their assignment and community.

College credit/internship requirements:

EMM will work with each intern and their college to ensure that college internship requirements are met.

Funding and Compensation:

Mission interns are offered a stipend of up to $1,500 per month that is covered through the combination of CMRT funds and contributions from their church community. Upon approval, a letter will be sent to the intern’s church to invite them into this process.  If housing is needed, EMM will work with the intern and their church community to explore options.
